Hard start when cold or engine sits?

I have a hard start when cold or engine sits for more than 4 hours, blinking check engine light at highway speeds only, hesitation most of the time, a finicky fuel gauge, and a computer that will randomly reset itself every once and a while.

Scan for codes and check fuel pressure with a gauge. Auto parts rent it.

I agree with HMAC300, it sounds like you have a weak fuel pump. Here is how to check the pressure guide.

the fuel pressure should be between 48 and 52 psi. HEre is how to change the pump out which is a common failure with these trucks. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.
