Transmission problem
1995 Chevy S-10 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

The problem is that I dont have 4WD. The truck would not shift into 4wd so I bought and replaced the electronic shift motor.

Now when it shifts into 4WD it locks the front drive axle in and spins when in drive; but the front tires dont spin at all. I tested this buy putting the truck on a lift and place the truck into both 4h and 4L.

I am not sure where to go from here, is the front dif bad? Please help

Ok have you checked the switch on the transfer case that the vacuum lines go to that tells it to lock the front diff. There is a switch on the transfer case that relays to the vacuum actuator under the battery on the passenger side and this then lock the front diff in see pic below. Let me know what you find.

I found the switch and the vacuum actuator. I removed the battery box and slid the battery so that I could see the vacuum actuator as the truck ran. I had my wife switch the truck from 2w to 4h and the actuator did not move. I did check the lines to make sure they were all on. As far as I can see they are.

So does this mean the switch or actuator is bad? Also if there is a better way to test the switch and actuator, please let me know. Thanks for your help

Ok that would tell me that you need to replace the 4x4 actuator on the top left rear of the t-case. See pic below. Napa number FWD18.
