I am looking to buy my son a 1994 Chev S-10 pick-up and the guy said that the A/C doesn't work. It has a hole in a pipe or tube that needs to be replaced and the clutch inside of the compressor needs to be replaced. I noticed that the belt is not attached to the compressor (bypassed). How much and how difficult is this type of repair? Should I also be looking in other areas for the A/C to work, such as refrigerant etc?

Im sure the compresser is blown if its bypassed. You will need to start by replacing ac compressor and the leaking hose he said. Then charge the system then reevaluate the situation.

The compressor is in the 200.00 to 300.00 range, and I can't help with the other part, unless you know it's name. This price does not include labor, and recharging!
