I have an 87 s10 blaser with the 2.8 liter. The compressor started making noise a couple of years ago. When I looked at it it was apparent that the front bearing was bad. The pulley could be moved when wiggled. On the advise of a friend I removed the compressor bracket from the engine. I layed the compressor on top of the wheel well and tied it there.
The copressor is still charged(I Think). Could I replace the bearing now and have the air conditioning work? Can I borrow the tools from an auto parts store, to replace the bearing?
Thanks,
Mike

I dont see why not, and the tools you need are just your average, so I think autozone just rents like specialty tools (to my knowledge) maybe not. And the bearings should be several small ones if I remember correctly
