Racing engine

I have a 1995 Camaro V6 with 180,000 miles. I started the car last night and the engine was racing as if I was pressing on the accelerator. It wont kick down when I press on it and when I opened the hood, there is this awful hissing sound? Any help? Advice?

Hello, if you mean that the engine won't idle down to where it should it sounds like you have a vaucum leak or a line that has come off. I would start by checking all the lines that I can find and I'm sure that you will find one somewhere that is off or broken or cracked. Something along those lines. If possible try to chase down where the hissing is coming from and start looking in this area. This can get tedious and irritating but take your time and do a thurough search and I'm sure you will find whats askew. Good luck and happy hunting. :Lol:
