2000 chevy 1500 z71, 5.3l. 48000 miles. Every couple months engine will not start. It will crank but won't start. Let it sit for 20 minutes then will start. It will work fine for a few months and then do it again.
2 GM mechanics haven't a clue. I did replace the fuel regulator because it was bad and was told that it might have been the problem, but it has happened again. I have plenty of fuel line pressure. Could I have a faulty fuel pump?

It could be the fuel pump but the only way to tell for sure is to test it and do a visual check of the entire fuel line. Start by thinking about changing the fuel filter. (When was the last time it was changed?) Second check the line for any leaks or kinks, even small ones can make a difference. You say you have plenty of line pressure but how do you know this? You will need a fuel pressure tester in order to make a few checks. After connecting the tester check that the pressure is with in specs for the car with it running. Then check that the presure is in specs after the car is turned off to make sure the pressure doesn't drop too much. Hope this helps Backyardmechanic
