My 2006 Impala "gurgled" from under the dash each time it was started, from the day I got it. The low coolant light never came on and during an oil change, the tech told me he added coolant to the resivoir. Could be that on subsequent oil changes, coolant was added.
But the gurgle remained until I had no heat at idle. Heat worked fine when RPM's were higher. Local shop told me I needed a thermostat. I complied, paid them $160. But the no heat at idle remained. I complained to my shop. They just poured more coolant into tank. Obviously, they didn't know how or chose not to purge the air properly from the system.
I submitted question to the fine folks at 2CarPros and they sent me a very detailed air purge procedure that I performed myself. It was easy and worked fine. No more gurgling
