Engine Cooling problem
1996 Other Chevrolet Models V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Hi

We recently replaced the water pump and some hoses on a 1996 Chev, V8 and now the car is running at half on the temp guage where as before it was just under 1/4. We are in Australia and over here the car is called a Holden Commodore. I hope you can help.

As long as its not over heating I wouldnt worry, for safe measure you may want to change the thermostat, but I wouldnt worry about it unless it goes into the red zone, you can also have your engine coolant temp sensor checked, that tells the computer what the temp of the engine/coolant is and it could be giving a false reading ultimately causing the fans to come on late, giving the temp gauge a hotter reading. Did that make any sense lol
