I have a 85 Chevy C-10 chock engine pickup and I haven't had any problems with it since I bought it about a month ago. I filled it up today and drove it back home with no problems. The next time I went out to start it, it would start as long as you gave it gas but as soon as you let off the gas peddle or you step on the brake it dies out. I've never had this problem before. I thought it was becasue I didn't chock it last night so I hit the chock and let it sit for a while before trying to start it again. That doesn't seem to be working. It runs and will run as long as you keep giving it gas but as soon as you let go of the gas peddle it dies. I can't seem to figure out what's wrong since this is the first time I have had this issue.

Are you saying you have a feedback carburetor. If you work the throttle, can you see gas squirt in the throttle bore?

Sometimes if there is an extended crank, I remove the airhorn, top of carb, see if there is gas in the float-bowl. If the fuel pump and filter are ok, maybe you need a carb kit. Your crankcase dipstick doesn't smell like gas?

I guess you can check for codes, it might show a lean system?
