There's no special tools required. Just a little elbow grease.
Some mechanics choose to remove a motor mount and engine torque arm and jack the back side of the motor a few inches to make it a little easier. But it isn't necessary, so long as you have a good spark plug socket with a swivel. The magnetic kind would be best (with a few different lengths of extensions), since it's so easy to drop the spark plug.
If there's any components on the firewall that seem to be in your way, just remove them.
