Hello, I am having trouble with my z34. Its leaking a lot of coolant from the upper upper heater core pipe(between the lower intake manifold and a bracket with the tensoner leadin into the heater core). Its a 90 deg bend and even with the manifold and braket. I was wondering if you could advise me on how to replace it. Do I need to remove the intake manifolds?
thank you for your help. Dave

A very common problem and a very easy fix, heck just had to do mine last week.

1. Take off your coolant reservoir so youll have more room to get tools in.

2. Take off your alternator, theres only 2 or 3 bolts holding it in.

3. Take off your belt tensioner. Again theres 3 bolts holding that in, however 1 is hidden under the 1st heater hose inlet.

4. Your there, just take off the old elbows, make sure to scrap off any bits and pieces that break off, there will probably still be some on the head and belt tensioner.

5. Install the new elbows.

6. Reverse steps, be careful not to crack the new elbows when putting the tensioner back.

Thats about it, the elbows are about $4 at autozone. You will have to take off your belt so its up to you if you want to replace it in the mean time.
