Malibu stalls after getting gas

Only after filling with gas (any amount), the car idles very high then low, and eventually stalls. Its only until the car runs for a couple minutes (in drive), that the car acts normal. Recent repair was changing the head gasket. Occationally the car will stall when stopped at a light.

sounds like your evaporative(charcoal)canister may be plugged. it is designed to absorb excess vapor which you get high amounts of when adding fuel. when it is clogged, this vapor stays in the emissions system causing a flooding effect. another possibility is the breather hose at the tank.
