2002 Chevy Malibu Sudden shotdown of power

My car suddenly stops (total shutdown) even when moving. My mechanic had done a computer check and I was told there was a problem with a module and I had it replaced. It was fine for about 2 weeks, however, the same problem occured this morning. It was scary for there was no control whatsoever, the brakes, the steering. Basically, it was a total shutdown.

Please help!

When engine shuts down, the power steering and all the items mentioned would not work correctly.

When engine stalled, were the dash indicator lights turned on?
Were you able to restart?
Is the Check Engine Lamp indicating?
What module did you replace?

When engine stalled, were the dash indicator lights turned on? NO
Were you able to restart? YES, I WAS ABLE TO RESTART
Is the Check Engine Lamp indicating? NO
What module did you replace? ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC IT WAS THE MODULE UNDER THE IGNITION COIL.

When the engine stalled and dash indicator lights do not come on, it means a power interruption has occurred.

The cause is quite likely to be ignition switch. Quite a number of ignition switch fault have been reported for this model so I would suggest getting it checked.
