2002 Chevy Malibu car dies while driving down the road

What would make my car just die while driving and take afew minutes to start back up and also when I try to start it it just turns over then try again and it will start

I would take a look at the mass airflow sensor it may be dirty or faulty and need to be cleaned with mass airflow sensor cleaner, and directions followed, also you may have a problem with your crank position sensor, need have it looked at
