2000 Chevy Malibu ignition switch

Just the tumbler part? Without a key it will have to be drilled out. This can get messy for someone that hasnt done it before, you dont want to damage the housing the tumbler goes into. There is a release located at the 4o'clock position on the housing, but for it to work the key has to be in the "run" position. Does it use the same key for the doors? If so you may want to remove a door lock and have a key made for it
