1998 Chevy Malibu 4 cyl 130000 miles
about a month ago my car while driving on the highway getting to different speeds felt like the transmission was slipping. Best way to explain is it felt like as if I had cruise control on and hit the button to turn it off and would lose speed, then it would feel as if I turned it back on and it would speed back up all with steady pressure on the gas pedal. Check engine light came on and I took it to get looked at. The code came up as engine misfire, so the plugs were replaced. Just 2 days ago on the highway going between 70-75mph it started doing the same thing again (& the check engine light came back on), however if I kept the speed at 60-65 it was fine and the rpms stayed on 2. Could it really be the transmission or something a lot more simple?
