1998 Chevy Lumina Front Wheel Drive Automatic

my air bag and check engine light is on. I took it to a shop close here and they put it on a computer thing and the codes they got were B1024 and 31071 but he didn't know what they meant. I took it to the dealer and they charged me 89.95 to put it on the machine and that it was the air bag module and it would cost me 1200 dollars to fix it. I just don't trust them and they were kinda rude, maybe because I'm just a girl. Anyway I can't afford that right now and I need my car.
