My husband just bought a Chevy Lumina from a close family friend. We have had it since October without any problems. We had an ignition interlock device put on the vehicle. Although I have checked with them, they said that the device will not cause our problem. Our problem is that when you are driving the vehicle it will shut off completely. You can start it back up, but it shuts off while you are going 10mph or 55mph on the freeway. I have taken it to a mechanic but they said they could not get it stall out and said that there was no problem with the engine but there was a problem with the device. Do you know what might cause this? I would like to be better prepared the next time I have to take it to a mechanic. Thank you.

There are so many possible things that can be wrong. You will need to determine if your losing spark or fuel pressure. This is done by leaving it at the repair shop and have them road test with a spark tester and a fuel pressure gauge installed and when they get the condition its easier to narrow down
