You can disconnect the two screw that holds the glass to the regulator, then remove the motor from the regulator bracket.
This will allow you to move the mechanism up and down so you can fit it back in place. Then do the reverse to reinstall it.
As for your switch, you probably have a bad contact in the switch or one of your wires is broken.
If you know how to use a test light, you can probe the switch and wires util you find the problem. If not, then you'll have to find someone who can.
I recommend going to your local community college and finding a student. They'll certainly do this for cheaper than a shop.
