1997 Chevy Lumina 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

car cranks over but it wont start. To get it to fire we have to put fuel into the carbrator then it will start then dies

Use a gage and check fuel pressure. Some of the national brand autostores used to loan out a fuel pressure gage, if you don't have one. That's where I'd start. If fuel pressure checks ok, I'd want to test for injector pulse.
