1996 Chevy Lumina Brake Lights

1996 Chevy Lumina 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

When I apply the brake pedal the brake light in the rear window lights up but the left and right hand brake lights do not although the passenger side did light for a short time. I have checked the fuse and the replaced the bulbs. What could be causing this?

Fault is in turn signal switch most likely

Is the turn signal switch also known as the multifunction switch?

Yes brake circuit runs through it so when brakes apply they overide turn signal
