Ok I have spent that last few days looking over stuff and the net on this site and others and I am stumped. Maybe you can help? My wife's lumina quit the outer day like it was out of gas but the gage said 1/4 tank so i thought that maybe the gage had gotten stuck or something so i put about five gallons of gas in and it still wouldn't start. Then I changed the fuel filter and that helped a little the car will now start and idle but as soon as you give it the gas or put it in gear it dies. I got down by the fuel tank and listened for the pump to run and i can hear it humming for a few seconds when the key is first turned and according to what everyone has told me that means that it is working "they either work or they don't" i guess that makes sense. Now I'm stuck i don't know what to turn to next, and the worst thing is that i have a vary short fuse when it comes to any thing electrical ( witch i have been told has to be the problem) especially when i don't know were to start. Help please.
Thanks
Dave

I dont know if you figured it out yet.I would first do a pressure test on the fuel rail,i'm thinking its a fuel pump.I had one I replaced once that you could hear but it still wasnt producing enough pressue.
