1992 Ford Ranger Oil Pressure Drop

i have a 92 ford ranger with 172,000 miles on a 2.3l engine. last week i changed the oil and the following day after about a half our drive i lost all oil pressure. the valves started to chatter, iput another oil filter on it and it was fine for about another 20 min. drive then the oil pressure was erratic and finally drooped all the way off. is this definately an oil pump or should i look elsewhere first?

take your oil filter off and check the egine block the oil filter screws on make sure the old oil filter gasket is not still on there if it is it will cause the oil to leake out! I know it sounds simple but i have seen it happen quite often good luck
