My car starts but does not move when I press the gas in drive, first or third gear. It only revs the engine, but it reverses and drives slowly in first gear.

There is no fluid in the transmission? You can see leaking fluid? Yes that is normal for the check engine light to be on then turn off when the engine starts?

If there is no fluid in the transmission the transmission wont work correctly and the car wont move. Plus without fluid in the transmission it will be severely damaged. Question is if there are no visual leaks where did the fluid go?

I get a display on the dash that says"engine power reduced."
The only codes that come up are P0106, P0449, P0452.
There are no other codes!
These three codes do not say anything about "engine power reduced."
Please help.
Thank you.

Anytime you have code the engine power will be reduced. You have a BARO and EVAP codes is there any symptoms along with the codes?

The engine is a little hard to start. It cranks a little longer than usual but, when I give it a little more gas, the car runs fine. New fuel pump and fuel filter (under frame).
Traction also shows up on dash. Could the inhibitor relay be defective?
Thank you very much for your reply.

Here is my take on this whole thing. The p0106 is for your map sensor the p0449 is for the vent control solenoid circuit and the p0452 is for your fuel tank pressure sensor. What do all three have in common they all share the same five volt reference signal or five volt power supply to them. I would be checking the fuses under the hood see if any are blown. Also, those codes will not or should not put the car in reduced performance mode. That happens when there is a fault in the throttle by wire system like a fault in the throttle position sensor gas pedal sensor etc. The traction light might be a clue if it is seeing wheel slippage or thinks that is happening then it would retard the timing and cause a reduced performance feel etc. That would take more than a basic diyer code reader to read ABS or traction control codes. I would first looking into those three codes your getting and see where that takes you. Let me know what you find with the fuses if any are blown.

I would be really looking in the under-hood fuse box at the 15 amp emissions 1 and emissions 2 fuses.

Without the mass air flow sensor the vehicle's computer will default into a preset or pre programmed operating mode. In this mode the vehicle will output more emissions and your fuel economy will be reduced. Other than that you'll probably not have any issues long-term or short-term. I would not recommend driving up any steep canyons or grades just as a precaution.
Thanks for the question

Hello I have a 2000 impal LS with 3800 engine and trans and as the title states I just replaced my old engine and trans with one from a 2003 Monte Carlo SS 3800. First off im showing code p1810. Mainly the trans was working fine when fist ran and now will not go past 2nd gear(LIMP MODE). I unplugged the main trans pigtail ang plugged it back up and it worked fine for a few min then reverted back to LIMP MODE. I have been reading that some things were changed inside the 4t65e trans on 2003+ models. Any ideas?
