Starting problem

I have a 1992 Chevrolet Corvette with a 350 engine. It is hard to start, it will just keep turning over until you give it gas. It seems to start up easier when the engine is hot, for instance If I stop and run in a store real quick and come back out to crank it, it will start right up. It will also sometimes when I go to crank it, the engine will rev up really high and the only way to stop it I have to put it in drive to slow the engine from reving up so high. I had the car tuned up and all sensors are good. I have not had the starter checked yet could that be the problem? Thank You, D Ruefle

Best guess. The throttle position sensor is bad. Easy fix. Located on the gas pedal cable. On top of the air intake. Also check to make sure the cold start or injection sensor is working correctly. When you get in the car. And the motor is cold. Turn the key to power. But do not start the motor. Make sure the radio is off so you do not hear the power anttena. Roll down the windows. Turn off the car. Make sure the car is in park. Set the park brake. Exit the car. Reach through the window and turn the power on again go to the back of the car and listen for the fuel pump. If you hear the pump. Great, but listen if the fuel pump labors. At first it will run fast then slow. If it gets really slow. The fuel pump filter is clogging from junk in the tank. Which would effect the fuel pressure on cold starts. Do not try to fix this yourself.
Go to a trusted car guy. Gasoline is involed. Good luck.
