Engine Cooling problem
1996 Chevy Corvette V8 Automatic 76,000 miles

I have a 1996 c4 collector edition with the soft and hard top. Ever since we changed the water pump the engine will get real hot when idling in traffic and cool down when driving. Also there is a distinct antifreeze mixed with exhaust smell that is more noticable in the passenger seat. The front window fogs up as well and the defrost takes it away but only blows cold air.

Anytime you get an anti-freeze smell inside of the car, that means there's a leak in the heater core or hoses leading to it. Combined with the windows fogging, that's a sure bet.

The problem is, you should NEVER get an exhaust smell. Hopefully, you're just confusing smells. If not, then that's extremely DANGEROUS. And it could kill you. Have that checked out immediately.

And if by chance there is exhaust mixing with the anti-freeze, then that means you have a blown head gasket. (Can be nothing else)
