Smells problem
1995 Chevy Corsica 4 cyl Automatic 150+ miles

Hello my car recently started to do some things that I would like to get an idea of what it may be so not to get screwed when going to the repair shop:
When I get to about 30 mph it starts to shake bad.
I have to jam the gas pedal to the floor when I drive or else it will shake really bad
When I do this there is a bad smell of gas
My car goes through fuel A LOT it used to be great on gas now I am driving about 6 miles and putting $8 to $10 bucks in it.
I have not noticed any leaks but my son said once when he was driving there was some drops that managed to drip the entire time he was driving although he was not sure from where (teenager).
Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated!

You have to have a leak at some point in the system. If I had to guess, I would start by checking the steel fuel line from the tank. Chances are it is rusted. If you can't find any leaks, you will need to check fuel pressure drop off. Here is a how to:

https://www.2carpros.com/how_to/how_to_check_fuel_pressure.htm

What you need to pay attention to is how quickly the pressure drops when the ignition switch is turned off. It should maintain pressure for some time. If it doesn't, then there is a leak.

Let me know what you find. Also, if you need a fuel pressure gauge, most parts stores will lend or rent them.
