Why does the the brakes take to change them out?

Replacing front brake pads and rotors really isn't too hard to do. If you do it yourself, make sure to get lifetime parts so you never have to pay for them again.

If you look at the pics below, they include the directions and pictures specific to your vehicle for this job.

Also, here is a video of this procedure being done on a Chevrolet Cavalier. The procedure is very similar to the cobalt.
