I have a 1997 Chevy C1500 extended cab with a 5.7L V8. Over the past 5 years i have put 10 fuel pumps in it. Some have lasted months, others just a few starts. i have had the wiring checked over several times and there are no shorts. Can you tell me where to go from here? i would like to install an inline external fuel pump, but don't know where to find the appropriate parts. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

You cannot use an external pump..

These pumps have a know problem with the connectors going to the pump with the contacts springs getting weak and not making a good contact which leads to a voltage drop to the pump. Most of the deals sell a replacement pigtail to resolve the problem.

You also can't use the cheap aftermarket pumps. You need to use only Delco replacement pumps.
