2002 chevy cavalier is overheating. The gauge runs about halfway, then will go almost all the way to hot for several minutes and then back to halfway. Sometimes it will redline. I have replaced the thermostat but that did not help.

Welcome to the forum, did you check that the radiator fan is turning on properly? Is there any symptoms of it running hot besides the temp gage? Is there coolant flow through the radiator?
