I recently purchased this vehicle and since then I have been experiencing some difficulty with its performance. When driving it chugs and sputters. But not all the time. It seems to to it more on gravel or bumpy roads. The rpms usually go up by about 800 when it sputters. Lately its begun stalling out when slowing down what do you think the problem could be?

Hi,

It could be caused by several things. The car's idle is controlled by the Idle air Control Valve (IAC). That is its only purpose. However it does nothing for the engine after an idle. If the car seems to respond worse over bumps, it sounds more like an electrical problem. Something could be loosing contact when moved.

I would first try to check grounds, and other wiring. Make sure everything is clean and tight.

Let me know what you find.

Joe
