2003 Chevy Cavalier 4 cyl Manual 80,000 miles

Every few months, my car will start to die, just when I'm at a idle, if I let out the clutch, it doesn't die. I can drive the freeway just fine, but when I get home & starting hitting stoplights it will die, it starts right back up though. I have a new fuelpump & filter, I get regular oil changes. Someone mention a idle sensor? I had someone spray cleaner into this sensor & it ran fine for about 4 months & now it is starting again. I was told I need to flush my radiator, don't think that would make a difference, any advised will be appreciated,
Thanks Debi

Clean out the Idle air control valve and PCV Valve. Also test the Throttle position sensor and MAP sensor.

Mine is doing something very similiar, but it isn't stalling out. It does act like it's going to at stops when it's idling or in park, but otherwise it drives like a charm.

I have had the plugs and boots replaced, and they tried a new coil module, still didn't improve any except now it has better accelleration and the idle has gotten even rougher. They are suggesting now that the timing may be off. Best of luck with your car!

You also might want to check your idler. When your idler goes out your car will die when you slow down or come to a stop. Surprised nobody thought to check that first, I mean. Its in the name right? :)

It also could be your timing too, but you would also expeirence a rough feel to your driving at higher speeds and there would be noticeable engine vibrations.

A buddy of mine at work just had this problem with his Golf. His car dies almost every time he comes to a stop. Had to replace his idler.
