I have a 1985 camaro v8 carburated engine. Today I was driving down the road and suddenly my engine loses power while holding the accelerator down. And would return to normal operation when I let off the accelerator. The car would ultimately stall if I were to hold the acceleartor down. Can you guys help me out.

Not knowing what carb you have or whether it's a 2 or 4 barrel my first thought would be to check out the acc. Pump and see if it's working right. Also sounds like the float level might be too low starving the motor for gas when you try to accellerate. Your fuel pump may also be getting weak and not supplying enough fuel to run beyond part throttle. Start at one end of the system and work your way through to the other end- I think somewhere in there you will find your problem. Just my.02 worth.
Hope any of this helps you out some.
