Computer problem
1996 Chevy Camaro 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

My car will not run unless I keep my scan tool hooked up. I have replaced the computer and problem remains.

The ground for the ecm is broken. Its usually on the thermostat housing or close by. Look for a small brown wire or black wire and lightly tug on it and see if it seperates. It runs with the scanner hooked up because its getting a back feed through the scanner.

All connections seem to be good. I have found out that if I move the brown wire right at the pcm ( the front bank of the pcm) the fuel pump kicks on. (I turned on the ignition key to help me find the bad connection.) I also read in my book (haynes repair manual) that the brown wire is the power to the pcm and the ground is black/white. I am not sure what to do next. Do I need to replace the entire harness?

BTW thank you so much mastertechtim, I feel I am alot close than I was.
