I own a 1995 Chevy Camaro Z28 with 78,000mi. At highway speeds (60-75) I get a loud noise, like I am on a train, or something. The shift lever shakes, along with the center console. The sound gets louder the faster I go, and when I let go of the gas. When turning I get NO sound, and at low speeds I get a low whining sound. The shop said I need a new rear differential. Let me know what you think. Thanks for your help.

It could be the rear end, if it's shaking it's not do long for this world though. But check your ujoints and if you have a center suport bearing on the driveshaft check that as that is the speed that alot of shaking is felt. You can check the condition of the diff yourself by pulling the plate off of rear of it and looking at the gear set to see wear. You'll have to buy a new gasket and gear lube to refill it.
