1992 Chevy Camaro Strange idle

I have a 1992 Camaro that had flood water up to the gas tank intake. It has since dried out and runs sort of. The issues are that:

A) It idles like a sin wave. Even at sixty miles an hour you can feel it going through this surge and loss of power type of cycle.

B) When decelerating sometime it dies. Which is kind of inconvienent when going around a corner or stopping at a stop sign.

I had mechanic get the error codes from the computer. The only one I remember was that the oxygen sensor was setting an error code.

Any ideas? Could there be crud, rocks in the gas tank that causes the deceleration engine die problem?

Hi rseedle and welcome to 2carpros

Have the mechanic check the fuel pressure could be that the pick-up screen in the tank is clogged with debris/fuel filter -if okay-check the idle air control motor/throttle position and MAP sensors-

Was the engine underwater also? If you havent already. You might want to pull the spark plugs out and check them. Maybe leave them out to let any moisture inside evaporate. To be honest.A car under water is a dooooooooozy! Heres a little check list that you might want to go over. 1) check the fuel filter and lines for water. 2) Remove and inspect the plugs, cap, rotor ect. 3) Make sure the oil dont have any water in it. 4)check any vacuum lines for water also. Im willing to bet ya find some moisture somewhere. I would drain the gas tank also. If it did get in the tank. Im sure its a little more then any chemical could remove. One things for sure. You have a big job ahead of you. Pick a place and start wrenchin! Good luck!

Why does it say I like cars by my name? Lol. I dont like cars! Just F-Bodies! Plus I think building 7 this year translates to a little more then like! LOL Anyways. Rseedle. Its a good car. Youll get'er fixed! I'll admit it.I sunk one in my time lol.
