My car and I have been together since I turned 16yrs old. I am now 33. This was my first car and if I had it my way, would be my last. It recently was taken to a shop to have the clutch replaced on it. Clutch plate had a spring come loose from it. Anyway, the car has been acting up even a while before the clutch problem. Started with power surges. The volt meter would be setting at 14 volts and next would be pegged out near 17 or 18. Sometimes would bob up for a min then back down for a min. Then other times would stay pegged out for periods of 5 or more minutes at a time. Then it progressed to where it was dying on me while going down the road but would then start back while still coasting. Then it progressed again, dying and leaving me on the side of the road for periods of 10 to 20 minutes before starting back up. Then after having the clutch replaced, the maechanic that did the work told me he thought the fuel pump was going out because after taking it out to test the clutch, he couldn't get it to start back up. I went to pick it up and it started then died, started then died, started and got me home about 30 miles away. Drove fine besides the fact that the clutch pedal was way to short for me comparing it to the way it was before the swap. Anyway, since getting it home, I replaced the fuel pump and filter and it drove to work, about 35 miles away, then almost back to my house, short about 4 blocks. Since getting it home, I have yet to get it to move again. I have replaced the ign. Coil, plugs, wires, cap and rotor, and MAF sensor relay mounted next to radiator. Only trouble code showing up is '36' (MAF sensor voltage low). I don't know where else to turn. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Go to the site here and look under how to repair or service link. Then go to how to test my iginition system. That will give you a step by step instruction how to test things. Also test to see if the battery is any good, it may be sulfated due to your wild voltage swings. Also it may be a soft line or vacuum not going to the MAP sensor. If this is the port fuel system it could be the MAP. I don't remember unless I saw it lol. Also clean the throttle plate with choke cleaner on both sides. A good way to test the MAF is tap it with a screwdriver handle while it 's idling if the car quits running it needs replacing.
