1997 Chevy Blazer HARD PEDAL

I have a 97 blazer w/abs and the brake pedal is extremly hard and not stopping very well just wondering if it is a problem w/abs system, vacuum line fluid problem or booster any direction or diag help would be greatly appriciated thanks

It sounds like either the booster or the booster check valve, to check it, turn the truck off, pump the pedal to expel all air from the booster, then hold pressure on the pedal, start the truck, does the pedal sink? If not it's what I said. Now to check the check valve, remove it from the vacuum hose, try to suck air thru the end of it, air should pass in only one direction. If that test OK replace the booster.

How does the truck run? If it runs lousy at idle check the egr valve for a piece of carbon in it. This will cause lack of vacuum at the booster.

If you have a vacuum guage install it on a tee at the booster, if reading is 15-19hg, don't bother with the EGR check.
