I notice the brake smell?

I replace the pads and rotors on my vehicle yesterday. The first time driving it any real distance I notice the brake smell. It is coming from the rear driver's side. Not much heat, but definitely enough to cause concern. It is the first time I have done this since I have owned the car. I am only its second owner and I have only had it a week. The person I had help me with the brakes (pads and rotors) said the calipers and hoses looked to be in good condition. I do not believe he greased their side when doing them. Is it a simple fix? Will I do damage if I continue to drive it? How do I fix this?

It sounds like you may have put the calipers on with out backing the pistons into the calipers all the way and it is putting pressure on the pads giving you the burning smell. This happens when the brake booster push rod is adjusted out too far which does no allow the brake master to return fully holding the brakes on. To confirm the issue loosen the brake master mounting bolts 3 turns to see if the car starts to roll again, if so remove the master and adjust the booster push rod inward. Also a brake flex hose can come apart internally causing a short of check valve in the system but this is usually isolated to one brake either front or rear.
