Why does my dome light stay on all the time. I have to pull my fuse so it won't drain my battery.

Try unplugging head light dimmer switch and see if it goes out. If it does not then I have found on these older trucks that the wires get rott3ed out under drivers side carpet area. You are looking for the white wire(this controls the dome lights)

Also make sure someone did not leave the rear dome light switch on by accident

Dome lights will not turn off. They should fade out when you shut the door, but they stay on. I have pulled all the fuses and everything looks good. I've checked all the door switches and all are working fine(nothing sticking). I've pulled all the bulbs to keep them from running down the battery. Can anyone help out? Have also tried the switch on the headlights but nothing seems to work

Welcome to the forum. There is an interior lamp contol module under the dash, lower center. The only problem, I can't troubleshoot the module, I don't have enough info. At the dome lamp, orange wire is voltage, white wire is ground, I believe. Both wires are connected to lamp module.

Is there a switch under the headlamp switch that says dome lamp? If there is such a switch, it is to stop the dome lamp from coming on, when you open the door.

Thanks for the reply! I'll check under the dash and see if I can spot it. No there isn't a switch under the head light switch, just your roller that turns the speedo and tack lights up or down. I'll let you know what I find out.

I replaced the complete dash, I marked all the wires and put them back. When I re-connect the battery the dome lights stay on and the speedometer needle stays on the right side peg. I turn engine on and the needle stays to the right. The other guages work fine.

You need to re check your connections to verify they are in the correct position.

The dome lights may be feed back from the dash light circuit.

The speedo issue may also be a bad unit from your donor dash.
