My son has a 96 chevy beretta that has a "service engine soon light" that i'd like to reset. He's too lazy to go buy a chiltons manual, and i'm too smart to buy it for him since he'll never use it. Could you fella's help an old shade tree mechanic out and tell me how to reset it please. Jack

Since you got check engine light on, I would go to youre local autozone and have them scan, The trouble code, Once you replace the broken sensor, Should correct the problem.

Go to autozone they should be able to reset it or tell you how I would checkthe codes first if they tel you it to old keep looking for someone to read them they would only do mine a the main 24hr store and oreily is suppose to get one that will read it if your car is newer you shouldnt have a problem getting it checked ive heared something about takeing off the battery cable then hitting the brakes 3 times dont know if that works or not and im not sure if you hit the brakes 3 times before or after you put the battery cable on it think they said after reconeccting then hit the brakes 3X? Oh and if you dont fix whatever it was in the first place its not going away
