Make sure the battery has a full charge and battery connections are clean and tight on both ends. Check engine grounds, where applicable.
When problem occurs, the purple wire at the starter solenoid S terminal should be hot with the key in the crank position. Also, check the starter field terminal, that should be hot, key in crank position. Right now, I can't tell if problem with wiring circuit to the starter or starter problem. It sounds like your battery has a low charge. Any circuits, check the actual voltage reading.
