Noises problem
2002 Chevy Avalanche V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I AM NOTICING A "TICKING" SOUND THAT SOUNDS LIKE A LIFTER. THE NOISE WILL STOP AFTER ABOUT 10 SECONDS OF STARTING THE ENGINE. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE OIL GUAGE WILL "FLUTTER" WHEN THE TICKING IS GOING ON. COULD THIS BE EXHAUST MANIFOLD LEAKING? WOULD AN OIL PUMP MAKE THIS SOUND? IT'S STRANGE HOW THE SOUND COMES AND GOES. AT FIRST I THOUGHT LIFTER OR ROD, BUT NOW THAT IT STOPS IT CAN'T BE, CAN IT?
THANKS

I would have hear it to be sure. It could be an exhaust manifold leak or it could deal with a lifter taking a few seconds to pump up.

Are you using a quality oil filter with an anti flowback valve?
