i have a 97 chev astro conversion van, sometimes the fan control swith works and then sometimes it doesnt work at all, can I replace just the fan control swithch or do I have to purchase the whole cluster (fan control, temp knob, ac/vent/heat knob) I looked in my repair book I purchased from the auto store but cant find anything about that cluster of knobs). At on point the vent/ac/heat would only work on my feet, but I researched it and it turned out to be the hose/line under hood that was collapsing, could that affect the fan control in the van. Summers coming and I have to have my air. Thanks for your help. Can you recommend a repair manual that may help me, ususally my husband would take care of this, but he passed away and now im trying to figure it out on my own, again thank you

Yes, you can purchase just the switch. As far as the fan, however, I can't guarantee that is the problem. Many things can cause the fan not to work. In reality, you should check to see if there is power to the motor first. The motor could be the problem. THere is also a fan relay and blower motor resister that can go bad and cause it not to work.

As far as a good manual, they are all about the same. I know they offer an online manual on this site. It's cheaper than purchasing a book. You may even want to check it out. As far as the fan, check to make sure the motor isn't getting power before replacing things.
