Will not hardly run without being choked then does not run well but at times we'll take off smoothly and drop back just spitting and sputtered. It could be vacuum advance but I think it's carburation has a Edelbrock on it now that replaced the motorcraft that it came with not sure who what would you think the problem is vacuum.
advance and distributor or carburetor and airflow.

If it is only running with the choke closed, chances are there is a vacuum leak allowing too much air to enter the combustion chamber. Closing the choke creates a richer fuel mixture.

As far as the vacuum advance, that wouldn't cause a problem at idle unless there is a leak.

Check out this link. It explains how to check for an engine vacuum leak.

If it's possible, record what it is doing so I can hear and see how it's running. Hopefully, that will help me.

Let me know if you find leaks.

It won't idle without choke but sounds smooth then it'll run when you get going for a mile or so then acts like dirty filter but don't matter what you do it'll shut off coming up a step hill will almost shut off then pick up for a second or two and sound fine.
