Okay this is what's going on we have a 1986 Pontiac Firebird in the beginning when we crank the car it was having a hard time turning and staying on after a while it kinda eased off in what crying but recently since its been cold it would crank but admits tried of driving it would cut off or the power with diagram so my husband check the carburetor and he did not have a fuel filter in the carburetor so he bought a fuel filter in the process of doing that his uncle told him to just go ahead and do the tune up as well so he bought new spark plugs wires we bought a new distributor cap and rotor he changed at all that cleaned it out clean everything up and everything put everything back it wasn't cranking so then I made sure that all of firing all the wires is going in the right direction for the car to start in the process of doing that the carburetor was backing up bit confused still trying to turn it over the car starter signal fuse befire was coming through the carburetor and making up backfiring noise they went back make sure the timing was right everything right wires right back and forth back and forth now it's still doing the same thing is not catching and it feel that fire in through the carburetor do you know what it is if they did wrong or did they do everything right and its something else

The 86 firebird fuel filter is up on the frame by the rear drivers side. I have one myself. It had sat for a while and when driving it it seemed to run out of gas. Found that the fuel pump was working in the gas tank but with using gas with ethenal it eroded the fuel filter on the pump. Had a friend do the work with a new fuel pump and sending unit for the fuel guage. Car runs great now. What kind of engine do you have. Most I have seen are fuel injected like ours. Check for the fuel filter on the frame and replace it.
