Car was starting just a few hours earlier, then went to start it to leave. Lights, radio and everything came on, but when I tried to turn the ignition to start it, the lights all go out and it will not crank at all. Tried to jump the car and it sparked. "Yes all the cables were in the correct place and put on in the right order." It didn't matter every time it would spark and car will still not start. I am 5 hours away from home for training for work and my car is at the top of a parking garage. I could really use some good advice on what might be wrong and what needs to be done.

Welcome to 2CarPros.

What you described mirrors a loose or corroded battery cable. When the starter engages, it has a large draw on the battery. If the connection is loose or dirty, it can cause everything to shut down for a bit and then the light will come back until you try again.

Take a look through this link. It explains exactly what you described.

Let me know if that takes care of the issue.
