The car is parked. I went out to start it. It turned over, tried to run, coughed, and shut off. Now it won't start. It tries to start, like maybe it's out of gas, but can't be.
I always let the fuel pump run then start it. It seems during that time the fuel pump would pause in the middle of operation and has been doing that for about a year.

Hello,

Just to clarify, are you able to hear the fuel pump running currently?

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/car-not-running-advanced

An inoperative fuel pump can be due to a bad relay, wiring issue or a faulty pump.
The Fuel Pump Relay is located in the Electrical Relay Center. The Electrical Relay Center is located behind the right-hand side of the Instrument Panel top of right-hand shroud (seed diagram below).
Look for any corrosion or burnt pins.

If the relay is good, but the pump is not coming on then it could be due to a bad pump or wiring.

Let me know what you find or have any questions.
Thank you.
