Car wants to stall

I just changed my clutch in my car. I started it and it ran. When I take it down the road I can hit 3,500 rpm's then shift to second hit 3,500 rpm's again then shift to third then it buck and back fires then when I stop it wants to stall. If I hit the gas a few times it starts to Idle again until I start shifting again. I noticed my negative battery terminal wire is frayed and when you touch it a rusty dust comes off and some of the wire is falling apart. Could this be my problem?

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.com. Since you most likely disconnected the cable to do the repair, that could be the problem. That is the first thing I would repair. Since the engine is misfiring, I would also scan the computer to identify trouble codes. Here is a video for doing it:
