Good evening,

The 606 is the key. The engine control module or the ECM has failed internally and needs to be replaced. I would not even address the other code unitl the ECM is replaced and programmed.

Roy

1. Using a scan tool, retrieve the percentage of remaining engine oil. Record the remaining engine oil life, if required.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the left front inner fender brace.
4. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
5. Disconnect the ECM electrical connectors (2).

6. Remove the ECM from the air cleaner lower housing.

Are the EMC's you can buy online legit? They say they're programmed with your VIN number. My son just had his transmission replaced and doesn't have a lot of money so are we okay with these?
Thanks

Okay, thank you. Also the warning center on the dash said the engine power is reduced.

I have people also telling me it’s the ignition. I’m trying to help my son and he’s just replaced the transmission and doesn’t have a lot of money. So I don’t know what to do.

Replace the computer first. Then see if the other code goes away.

I found out that it was the positive battery cable rubbing against a pulley that shorted out causing the car to shut off. Without a tester is there any way to find out if the alternator is bad?
Thanks Roy.

No, you need a voltmeter to test the voltage at the battery with the engine running.

That will not cause the other codes.

Your welcome
